If you haven't heard already, we are running our Cicerone Study Group again starting January 22nd! The original “study group” was inspired by a couple of staff preparing for the Cicerone exam who wanted to prepare and write tasting notes together. We want to keep the group relaxed and casual, while offering an engaging study session here in our brewery. The group is open to both anyone wanting to take the official Cicerone exam, or people who just want to learn more about beer styles!
This up and coming group consists of 6 study sessions, each focusing on a different region or category of beer. We save one session for sampling all the delicious off-flavors found in beer, along with a full tour of the brewery to learn about the brewing process.
For our sessions we have a current Cicerone to guide us through each style, and answer all our questions. Joining us for the second time is Brendan Grills. He fell into the craft beer world through the SFBrew homebrew club. From there, he both worked and volunteered at a number of breweries in the lower mainland such as Deepcove, Steamworks, and Whistler Brewing Company. Brendan passed his Cicerone Certification in November of 2014 and has since worked at Brewery Creek Liquor Store as well as Craft Beer Consulting/ Educating on the side. Just this past November he won the Cicerone vs Sommelier competition at Whistler's Cornucopia!
If you are interested in joining the study group, there is still a few spots left! Check out the link below for tickets:
